This girl, that was on my Facebook list, posted this image twice. I ignored it the first time, but when she insisted on posting it AGAIN, I had to say something.
The part that upsets me even more is that just a week before she ripped me a new one for reblogging a tattoo of someone’s and saying it was horrible. She said that I had no right judging something so personal. And while she may have been right, she quickly proved that she was an incredible hypocrite.
She replied with a snide remark that most of the people on her Facebook agree with her, and that she’s entitled to her opinion. She has also said, previously, that when a girl “dresses like a slut” she is “part of the problem”.
Oh, and she also calls herself a feminist.
I can’t even.

I’m eighteen and a senior in high school. So today, in my Journalism class, this little freshman boy said aloud that it’s ridiculous that women want equal rights and also want men to open doors for them. My English/Journalism teacher, being the great person that she is, immediately said that she can open a damn door by herself and doesn’t need a man to do that. She also has everyone call her Ms. instead of Mrs. because she feels as if it is no one’s business to know if she is married or not, and I admire that, so I call my other women teachers by that too. And today I found out that she purposed to her husband herself! That is so cool. She also chose to not have children and has been very successful and happy in life. I really look up to her and am happy to have a feminist role model in my life.☺ -silver-zebra

This video is about Nicole , a mexican woman reporting to the mexican authorities in Mexico City that a man in the apartment building in front of hers has been harrassing her, masturbating in his window while peeping into her apartment, calling her attention while he masturbated in his parking lot where she could see him, also verbally harrassing her comenting on her physical appearance when she goes out. The mexican authorities told her that nothing can be done unless he physicly harms her. So what is she supossed to do!? what are we supossed to do!? The comments by men in this video are victim blaming, they tell her that she probably likes it, that it’s her fault, even that she is making it up for attention because she is ugly( she godammed isn’t), she is noticeably scared and upset. We Mexicans already know that we cannot trust our authorities, but I don’t even… WHAT THE FUCK!!!

Okay, I know that I promised we would post no more Sh*t __ say videos buuuuut, this one mentions Lipstick Feminism, so I just had to post it.
In 2010 something unthinkable happened – student debt surpassed credit card debt as the largest form of debt in this country, passing $800 billion dollars. In 2012 more history will be made as the amount of unpaid student debt climbs to $1 trillion dollars, with an additional $1 million dollars added to that number every 6 minutes.
The ripple effect that this has on our economy is crushing: students and recent graduates are forced into low-wage jobs in order to immediately start making payments back to banks and lenders; instead of stimulating the economy by spending millions of dollars, students and graduates are pinching pennies to just try to keep up with the interest on their loans; and the privatization of colleges and universities are expedited as the same loan agencies use the profit off of students to lobby for lower tax rates, forcing budget cuts to higher education in an economy where recent graduates struggle to find jobs.
Imagine students not working two part-time minimum wage jobs as they struggle to get through school, allowing them more time to participate in civic engagement. Imagine recent graduates not being pushed into a job market where they are forced to intentionally keep wages stagnant, allowing them the ability to work for non-profits or local businesses.
If we do not solve the student debt crisis the students of today will suffer, but the students of tomorrow may never have the opportunity to a college education. A generation of students will pay the hefty price of their student loans; but we must not forget that we will also pay the debt of an entire country ignoring the burden placed on those working to better their lives and communities by obtaining a college degree.We are demanding that Sallie Mae, Inc. pay their fair share in fixing the economy by:
1. Forgive all student debt after 5 years of payments
2. Eliminate all interest on student loans

I have to think about my promiscuity, how it will be construed. In fear of labels ‘slag’, ‘whore’, ‘slut’. I have to think about showing an aversion to sex, in fear of being labelled ‘frigid’. How is a girl supposed to breathe in a society where she is continuously persecuted? Let alone live? Supposed to discover who she is when she is trying to be something to everyone? When all she wants is to be enough. How will she grow when she is confined by the narrow existence this society offers her? She can’t. She can do only that.
